Albert Barnes
MCIH
A housing professional for more
than 30 years, he spent the first eight years of
his career with the London Borough of Lambeth before
moving to Dorset in 1978 to join an actively developing
association as an Area Housing Manager.
Promotion followed to Regional Housing Manager and
then to Assistant Director of Housing. Following
a major restructuring of the housing department,
in which he played a leading role, he became Head
of Housing Policy and Support, and joined the management
team. He was latterly responsible for the Association’s
Housing Service Centre, its resident participation
function, special needs housing, policy formulation
and review, and support and compliance.
In May 2004, after 26 years he left the Association.
He returned later to project manage the implementation
of its new MIS ActiveH business modules. He is a
voluntary Board member for a specialist local housing
association.
